Prima Commercial Fund (PCF), Plc is a growing microfinance institution (MFI) in Cameroon with the mission to provide sustainable financial services to the poor so as to help them work their way out of poverty. To achieve this, we offer products and services – Savings, Insurance, Money Transfer, Payments, Loans, and Education (SIMPLE). The company specializes in offering innovative financial services to those who have traditionally been excluded from the formal financial services sector in the country. These are usually the poor and very poor, self-employed, small business owners, and community organizations who lack the finance to grow their businesses or for other investments. Thanks to our state-of-the-art technology and our strong management team, Prima Commercial Fund (PCF), Plc offers services that surpass those of many other MFIs in Cameroon.
Company History
What is known today as Prima Commercial Fund (PCF), Plc is a merger of two MFIs – Community Finance Assistance (CFA) Plc and Prima Commercial Fund (PCF), Plc. These companies came together in December 2017, when Prima Commercial Fund (PCF), Plc decided to acquire the former in a bid to both get the prestigious Category Two MFI license and to expand its client base.
While serving the needs of the traditional bank clients in Cameroon, Prima Commercial Fund (PCF), Plc intends to specifically target those who have been ignored by the traditional banks – the poor and very poor, self-employed, small business owners, community organizations, Women and the girl child etc. Prima Commercial Fund (PCF), Plc offers those with low income not only their own savings accounts, but also the ability to enjoy other financial services that have hitherto not been available to them through the existing, traditional banking facilities or even at other MFIs.
The root of Prima Commercial Fund (PCF), Plc, dates back to 2002, with the founding of the Community Finance Assistance based in Douala, Cameroon. . In February 2007, Community Finance Assistance was founded by AGRO-ENGINEERING GROUP, Mr. EDIAGE ERIC MESUMBE, latter in 2018; Community Finance Assistance began seeking licensure from the Ministry of Finance (MINFI) as well as COBAC, but encountered some bottlenecks. It then decided to acquire and merge with any other MFI in good standing. The dream became a reality in April 2018 when it acquired and merged with the Douala-based Prima Commercial Fund, SA, assuming the latter’s MINFI and COBAC licenses as well as its permit to pay civil servants’ salaries. PCF was founded by Mr. Camillus Yuven Lawong then handed to professor Januarius Jingwa Asongu, who later handed it to Mr, Ediage Eric Mesumbe.
